Softly, Strong, Hyundai India Couture Week 2026, in association with Nexxus New York An FDCI Initiative

Through more than fifty couture looks, ROSEROOM presented a woman whose softness has always been her greatest strength. Lace is where ROSEROOM began, and on Sunday evening at The Pavilion, Taj Palace, New Delhi, Isha Jajodia showed what years of working with it have taught her. Softly, Strong is the House’s fourth consecutive collection for Hyundai India Couture Week, in association with Nexxus New York, and the first in which every technique the atelier has learned appears in a single room. Chantilly, corded and guipure laces were layered against one another and then worked further by hand: appliqué set into the ground, florals built in three dimensions, transparencies anchored with pearls and Swarovski crystals. The season introduces clay to the House vocabulary, moulded by hand into floral motifs and sculptural detail and set into lace so that the two read as one material. The references are European romanticism, French architecture and vintage femininity, held to Indian craftsmanship, which remains the only tradition capable of executing them at this level. Corsetry holds the collection together. It runs through more than fifty looks: corseted gowns, skirts, sarees, tailored jackets, tuxedos and tulle skirts. The palette opens in ivory and blush and deepens through emerald, teal, ruby, ROSEROOM’s signature scarlet and gold, so that the collection arrives where its title does, at certainty. A couture house is a workforce before it is anything else. Softly, Strong represents many thousands of hours of handwork carried out across ROSEROOM’s ateliers over many months. The greater part of that work was done by women. A number of them work from home, in towns and villages they had once expected to leave for the cities, using skills their mothers held, for wages that arrive in their own names. The House extended this through Spread the Smile, an organisation that supports women in rural communities through home-based craftsmanship. Its artisans handcrafted a substantial proportion of the three-dimensional floral motifs in the collection, and their work carries beyond the runway into the show invitations and the gifting. Isha Jajodia, Founder and Creative Director, ROSEROOM: “This collection is about the woman who wears it. She has lived enough to know that softness is never weakness, that grace can be powerful, and that vulnerability and resilience can exist in the same breath. She no longer needs to choose between strength and femininity, because she has always carried both.” Isha Jajodia has now shown at Hyundai India Couture Week for four consecutive years. The body of work is consistent: lace treated as a structural material rather than a decorative one, femininity treated as a form of strength, and a house built on the hands that make it.

JJ Valaya Unveils SIDDI at Hyundai India Couture Week 2026

The showcase coincides with the unveiling of a new high couture bridal space at The World of Valaya in JW Marriott Hotel New Delhi Aerocity, marking the beginning of the House of Valaya’s journey before its 35-year milestone next year. Marking a significant new chapter in the House of Valaya’s illustrious journey, celebrated couturier JJ Valaya unveiled SIDDI, his latest Autumn/Winter 2026 couture collection, at Hyundai India Couture Week 2026. Coinciding with the showcase, the designer also introduced a new high couture bridal space at his Delhi flagship store ‘The World of Valaya’, housed within JW Marriott New Delhi Aerocity. This new space and collection mark the beginning of the journey towards celebrating 35 years of timeless craftsmanship and design excellence next year. About the Collection Siddi: Siddi explores the idea of cultural exchange through the lens of couture, drawing inspiration from the remarkable journey of the Siddis of India and the confluence of African origins with the many cultural influences absorbed over generations on the Indian subcontinent. Rather than offering a literal interpretation of a community or its dress, SIDDI reflects on movement, memory and identity, translating these ideas into bridal couture, occasion wear and menswear through intricately crafted lehengas, contemporary saris, fluid anarkalis, regal sherwanis and impeccably tailored bandhgalas. Rendered in a palette of antique gold, ivory, noir, champagne, deep jewel tones and rich earth hues, the collection comes alive through sumptuous fabrics and the House’s signature zardozi, aari, dori work, metallic embroidery and crystal embellishment. Among the collection’s most personal creations is a couture interpretation of the iconic Valaya Shifting Leaves Chevron. Originally created for his daughter Hoorvi’s wedding before being presented on the couture runway, the masterpiece is rendered in a restrained palette of black, beige and metallics, showcasing extraordinary craftsmanship and intricate detailing while marking a first for the House. “SIDDI began with the idea of a journey, one that crossed oceans, geographies and centuries, eventually creating an identity entirely its own. I was fascinated by the Siddis of India and by this extraordinary confluence of African origins with the many cultural influences absorbed over generations on the Indian subcontinent. But this is not a literal interpretation of a community or its dress. For me, it became a larger meditation on movement, memory and identity, and on how cultures evolve when they travel. Through the unmistakable vocabulary of the House of Valaya, SIDDI translates that thought into a contemporary couture narrative of embellishment, colour, texture, geometry and ceremony,” says JJ Valaya. About the Hgh Couture Bridal Space: Continuing its longstanding association with JW Marriott New Delhi Aerocity, THE WORLD OF VALAYA enters its next chapter with an expanded high couture salon dedicated to the house’s most exclusive bridal, ceremonial and bespoke creations. Conceived for private consultations and personalised appointments, the salon showcases limited-edition couture. signature bridal ensembles and bespoke creations, offering an elevated experience that reflects over three decades of the House’s craftsmanship and couture legacy. “At JW Marriott New Delhi Aerocity, we deeply value our longstanding association with JJ Valaya, a partnership built on a shared appreciation for timeless luxury, exceptional craftsmanship, and meaningful experiences. The expansion of the brand’s iconic flagship store marks an exciting new chapter in its remarkable journey, building on its rich legacy while reflecting a bold vision for the future. We look forward to continuing this journey alongside one of India’s most celebrated couturiers and to supporting moments that elevate India’s luxury and design landscape,” says Vishal Singh, General Manager, JW Marriott New Delhi Aerocity. With SIDDI, JJ Valaya once again demonstrates couture’s ability to transcend fashion, becoming a reflection of culture, memory and the journeys that continue to shape us.

Designer Masaba Gupta debuts at Hyundai India Couture Week 2026 with its first-ever bridal couture collection

“I want the world to feel the India I grew up in – loud, lush, unapologetically itself. And the feeling of ‘Still I Rise’.” — Masaba Gupta After six years, House of Masaba returns to the runway with its first-ever bridal showcase – a collection rooted in heritage, drenched in colour, and liberated by joy. More than a bridal debut, it marks the beginning of a new chapter for the brand, reimagining what bridal can look and feel like, through the unmistakable lens of Masaba. At its heart, this collection is an expression of eternal optimism. It celebrates women as the carriers of culture – where every bride takes a piece of India with her, wherever she goes. It captures the evolution of House of Masaba’s visual language while introducing its most expansive expression yet: bridal. House of Masaba has always celebrated India through an irreverent visual language – bold prints inspired by our culture, everyday nostalgia, folklore, pop references, and the joyful chaos of Indian life. A language that was proudly Indian and unapologetically original. Today, that same language enters its grandest chapter. The motifs that once redefined contemporary Indian fashion now become the identity of a new generation of brides. Not brides bound by convention, but women who are fearless, expressive, joyful and entirely themselves. The story unfolds through colour – not simply to represent India, but to release its spirit in full bloom. This show expands the idea of India itself. Because India, in the end, is not merely a place. It is a feeling. A way of seeing the world. A confidence. A memory. A celebration. And feelings, like fashion, know no borders. The journey begins in the sacred landscapes of India before drifting into the blue-green waters of Antigua and the vibrant tropics of the Caribbean. Bridal seamlessly transforms into resort bridal. Ceremony gives way to celebration. Tradition softens into freedom. It is designed for the woman who has arrived – confident in who she is, deeply rooted in where she comes from, and carrying those roots with her across the world. This is more than House of Masaba’s bridal debut. It is the evolution of a brand that has always redefined Indian fashion on its own terms, where heritage meets modernity, where motifs become legacy, where bridal becomes a celebration of identity. And where India is worn not as a destination, but as a state of mind. “I’m very excited to bring on Indriya as the jewellery partner for my first couture show. I think that the brand is at the perfect cusp of tradition and modernity. I have seen some of the pieces and instantly feel like they will belong not just on the runway but also in our wardrobes and as part of our personal collections. The jewellery is exquisitely crafted and has a lot of storytelling, and I think that the brand is very loud and proudly Indian, which I love and which is what House of Masaba stands for. It is also a brand that has been able to ignite a lot of trust within the market because it comes from the Aditya Birla Group, and I think when it comes to fine jewellery and bridal jewellery, it’s very important to have that trust, and I think that they do that beautifully, says designer Masaba Gupta. Speaking about the jewellery curation, Mr Abhishek Rastogi, Head of Design at Indriya, said, “For House of Masaba’s showcase at India Couture Week, Indriya brought together a curation that celebrates the breadth and richness of Indian jewellery craftsmanship. Styled with contemporary couture, the collection reaffirms that India’s finest jewellery traditions are not simply preserved; they continue to evolve, proving that heritage remains an enduring source of inspiration for modern design.”

Rohit Bal Unveils DASTKAR at Hyundai India Couture Week 2026

A stirring tribute to the master artisans whose hands have shaped one of India’s most enduring couture legacies for over three decades DASTKAR, the latest couture collection from the House of Rohit Bal, was unveiled at Hyundai India Couture Week 2026, where it emerged as a poignant celebration of the master artisans whose craftsmanship has shaped one of India’s most revered fashion houses for over three decades. Presented at the iconic Taj Palace, New Delhi, the collection unfolded as a heartfelt tribute to the generations of artisans whose skill, patience and extraordinary dedication have remained the foundation of the House’s enduring legacy. More than a couture presentation, DASTKAR was an acknowledgement of the countless hands that have quietly shaped every chapter of the Rohit Bal story. For more than thirty years, embroiderers, weavers, dyers, pattern makers and karigars have transformed artistic vision into garments of exceptional beauty, preserving centuries-old traditions while continually redefining the possibilities of Indian couture. Their artistry has long existed beyond the spotlight, yet it is their devotion that has defined the unmistakable language of the House. With DASTKAR, the narrative shifted from the atelier to its artisans. Every silhouette became a celebration of inherited knowledge, every embroidery an expression of patience, and every garment a testament to the enduring dialogue between imagination and craftsmanship. In paying homage to these extraordinary custodians of craft, the House reaffirmed a philosophy that has always remained central to its identity: that couture is, above all else, a celebration of the human hand. To know Rohit Bal, fondly known as Gudda, was to know a force of nature. He was charismatic, gloriously irreverent, mischievous and incandescent with life, filling every room with laughter, theatre, affection and an extraordinary ability to make people feel seen. Beneath that flamboyant exterior lived a heart of astonishing tenderness, driven by art far more than ambition. For Rohit, fashion was never merely a business; it was an act of devotion. Every collection became a love letter to India, drawing deeply from the lotus, the chinar, the peacock, the rose, the landscapes of Kashmir, walnut wood carving, lacquer work, temple architecture, miniature paintings, Mughal gardens, ancient textiles and forgotten embroideries. Where others saw ornament, Rohit saw civilisation. He possessed the rare gift of noticing what everyone else overlooked, transforming India’s cultural and artistic heritage into timeless couture that continues to inspire generations. DASTKAR carries forward that enduring vision, honouring not only the artisans who brought his imagination to life but also the creative spirit that shaped one of India’s most celebrated fashion legacies. Drawing inspiration from the ornamental richness of French tapestries, vintage wallpapers and the rhythmic interplay of lines and dots, DASTKAR explored an intricate conversation between art, architecture and couture. Rich silks, velvets and heritage textiles formed the canvas for exquisitely executed hand embroideries, layered textures and sculptural silhouettes that balanced grandeur with restraint. Ornamental motifs unfolded with remarkable precision, while intricate surface embellishments reflected the patience and mastery that only generations of craftsmanship can achieve. Every ensemble embodied a quiet opulence, where artistry spoke louder than excess and every detail carried the unmistakable imprint of the artisan’s hand. The collection also reaffirmed the House of Rohit Bal’s enduring commitment to preserving India’s extraordinary craft traditions while continually evolving its creative language. For three decades, the House has drawn inspiration from nature, architecture, art and cultural heritage, translating these influences into couture that is both poetic and timeless. DASTKAR continued that journey while placing the artisans who have safeguarded this legacy firmly at its heart. It served as a powerful reminder that the strength of a great fashion house lies not only in creative vision, but in the collective excellence of those who bring that vision to life, stitch by stitch. “DASTKAR is our deepest expression of gratitude,” says Fraze Tasnim, Creative Director, Rohit Bal Couture. “It is dedicated to the artisans who have remained an integral part of the Rohit Bal House for over thirty years. Their skill, patience and unwavering commitment have shaped every embroidery, every silhouette and every collection that has emerged from our atelier. This collection celebrates their extraordinary contribution and honours the enduring beauty of Indian craftsmanship, reminding us that behind every masterpiece are hands that quietly dedicate their lives to preserving the art of couture.” With DASTKAR, the House of Rohit Bal once again reaffirmed its enduring commitment to craftsmanship as the soul of couture. More than a collection, it stood as a celebration of India’s living craft traditions and the remarkable artisans who continue to preserve them with quiet excellence. In every thread lay years of knowledge. In every motif, generations of mastery. And in every creation lived the enduring spirit of the hands that continue to shape the House of Rohit Bal.

Independence Day 2026 Dress Code with white kurta, flag cap and tricolour face paint
Fashion

The Ultimate Tricolour Style & Glam Guide Celebrate Freedom in Fashion

Chic Outfit Ideas and Stunning Makeup Looks for Independence Day Independence Day 2026 Dress Code ideas are trending across schools, colleges, offices, and community celebrations because they combine patriotism, simplicity, and comfort. For India’s 80th Independence Day, one look has become a go-to across schools, colleges, and community events: a crisp white kurta, a cap with a small flag pinned or printed at the front, and a simple tricolour design painted on the cheek. It’s neat, respectful, easy to put together, and comfortable enough to wear through a full day of celebrations. Here’s how to get the dress code and makeup right. Independence Day 2026 Dress Code Why White Kurta First White is the base of this look for a reason — it represents peace, the white band of the flag itself, and works as a clean canvas that lets the cap and cheek paint stand out rather than compete with prints or bright colours. Cotton is the best fabric choice, given August’s heat and humidity, and keeps the outfit comfortable for outdoor flag-hoisting ceremonies. A classic Independence Day 2026 Dress Code begins with a white cotton kurta that creates a clean and elegant patriotic appearance. Independence Day 2026 Dress Code Styling the Kurta Pair the white kurta with matching white or cream churidar/pyjama for men, or simple white palazzos or leggings for women. Keep jewellery and accessories minimal — a small tricolour badge on the collar or a thin flag pin is enough. If you want a subtle colour touch, a saffron or green dupatta draped loosely works well for women without overpowering the all-white base. This Independence Day 2026 Dress Code works equally well for students, teachers, professionals, and families attending Independence Day events. Hindi Tip / हिंदी टिप: सफेद कुर्ते के लिए हमेशा सूती कपड़ा चुनें, यह अगस्त की गर्मी में आरामदायक रहता है और पसीने में भी अच्छा दिखता है। Choosing and Positioning the Cap A plain white Gandhi-style cap with a small tricolour flag badge or sticker fixed at the front-centre is the most recognised version of this look. The flag should sit upright, centred just above the forehead, not tilted or placed too far to one side, so it reads clearly in photos and from a distance. Ready-made caps with a printed or stitched flag at the front are widely available closer to 15th August and are a simple no-fuss option if you don’t want to attach a separate badge. A properly placed flag cap completes the Independence Day 2026 Dress Code while maintaining a respectful and balanced look. Step-by-Step Cheek Face Paint Clean the cheek area and apply a thin layer of moisturiser so the paint applies smoothly. Place a small rectangular flag stencil high on the cheekbone. Fill in saffron on top, white in the middle, and green at the bottom using a flat cosmetic brush, in thin, even layers. Add a tiny dotted circle in the white band with a fine liner brush for the Ashoka Chakra detail. Once dry to the touch, peel the stencil away gently for a clean, crisp edge. Cosmetic-grade tricolour face paint is one of the highlights of this Independence Day 2026 Dress Code and adds a festive patriotic touch. For children or larger group settings, a ready-made tricolour temporary tattoo is a faster, mess-free alternative — press it onto clean, dry skin, hold a damp cloth over it briefly, then peel off the backing. Hindi Tip / हिंदी टिप: फेस पेंट हमेशा कॉस्मेटिक-सेफ ही इस्तेमाल करें, क्राफ्ट या पोस्टर कलर त्वचा के लिए हानिकारक हो सकता है। Making the Full Look Work Together The key to this dress code is restraint — one flag on the cap, one small design on the cheek, and an otherwise all-white outfit. Adding more colour elsewhere (patterned kurta, multiple accessories, bold makeup) tends to clutter the look rather than enhance it. This is also why the combination photographs so well for school functions, flag hoisting, and social media. All-Day Comfort Tips For outdoor events, a light dusting of translucent powder over the cheek paint helps it last through heat and humidity. Choose a breathable cotton cap lining to avoid discomfort during long ceremonies, and carry a small makeup wipe for quick touch-ups or end-of-day removal. Hindi Tip / हिंदी टिप: टोपी पहनने से पहले बालों को हल्का सेट कर लें, इससे टोपी पूरे दिन आरामदायक और सही जगह पर टिकी रहती है। This simple, respectful combination of a white kurta, a flag-front cap, and cheek face paint remains one of the most practical and widely worn looks for India’s 80th Independence Day — easy to assemble, comfortable for a full day out, and unmistakably festive. FAQ Schema # What is the correct way to position the flag on a cap? The flag should sit centred and upright at the front of the cap, just above the forehead, so it’s clearly visible in photos and from a distance. # Why is white the preferred kurta colour for this look? White keeps the outfit simple and lets the cap and cheek paint remain the visual focus, while also being cooler and more comfortable in August heat. # Is face paint safe for children’s cheeks? Yes, as long as it’s cosmetic-grade, skin-safe paint rather than craft or poster paint; a patch test is recommended for sensitive skin. # Can I use a sticker instead of a cap with a printed flag? Yes, a small tricolour flag badge or sticker attached to a plain white cap works just as well as a pre-printed one. # How do I keep the cheek paint from smudging during outdoor events? A light dusting of translucent powder over the design helps it hold through heat and humidity for a full day outdoors.

Historic Manish Malhotra Paris Haute Couture Week 2026 Debut: ‘Maa’ Becomes an Emotional Tribute to Motherhood

Manish Malhotra Paris Haute Couture Week 2026 marked a historic milestone for Indian fashion as the celebrated designer made his official debut at Paris Haute Couture Week on July 8, 2026. Presenting his Fall/Winter 2026 collection titled “Maa” at the iconic Pavillon Cambon in Paris, Malhotra unveiled one of his most personal and emotionally powerful creations to date. The couture collection was a heartfelt tribute to his late mother, Sudarshan Malhotra, who passed away in March 2026. Through “Maa,” the designer transformed personal memories into a globally celebrated fashion narrative, earning admiration from the international fashion community. Manish Malhotra Paris Haute Couture Week 2026 Marks a Historic Debut The inspiration behind “Maa” came from what Manish Malhotra described as the “architecture of a mother’s unconditional love.” Drawing from cherished childhood memories, he revisited the elegant colors and timeless grace of the sarees his mother wore during the 1970s. These nostalgic hues formed the emotional and visual foundation of the collection, creating a seamless blend of sentiment and sophistication. Rather than simply presenting garments, Malhotra told a deeply personal story that celebrated motherhood, memory, and the enduring influence of family. Inspiration Behind Manish Malhotra Paris Haute Couture Week 2026 Collection The presentation was thoughtfully divided into four distinct chapters: Cocoon Bond Becoming Abundance Each chapter symbolized a different stage in the emotional journey of a mother and child. The narrative moved from protection and nurturing to growth, transformation, and fulfillment, making the runway presentation feel more like an artistic experience than a traditional fashion show. Design and Craftsmanship at Manish Malhotra Paris Haute Couture Week 2026 The “Maa” collection beautifully combined the structural elegance of French haute couture with India’s extraordinary artisanal heritage. The collection featured luxurious fabrics such as velvet, silk, and brocade, enriched with intricate hand embroidery techniques including zardozi, resham, sequins, pearls, and precious embellishments. Every ensemble reflected the meticulous craftsmanship that has become synonymous with Manish Malhotra’s design philosophy. By bringing traditional Indian embroidery to one of the world’s most prestigious couture platforms, the designer showcased the richness of Indian craftsmanship on a truly global stage. Why Manish Malhotra Paris Haute Couture Week 2026 Is a Milestone for Indian Fashion Manish Malhotra’s debut at Paris Haute Couture Week 2026 represents a landmark achievement for Indian fashion. With this presentation, he became the fourth Indian designer to be featured on the official Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode calendar, joining the distinguished ranks of Rahul Mishra, Gaurav Gupta, and Vaishali S. The milestone highlights the growing international recognition of Indian couture and reinforces India’s position as a major contributor to the global luxury fashion industry.
