From Haryana to Hertsmere: Parveen Rani and Tushar Kumar Create Historic UK Mayor Milestones

From Haryana to Hertsmere, the inspiring journey of Parveen Rani and Tushar Kumar reflects determination, public service, and the growing influence of the Indian diaspora in the United Kingdom. As a mother-son mayor duo connected with Hertsmere’s civic leadership, their story stands as a proud milestone for Indian-origin representation, women achievers, community leadership, and cross-cultural success. Beauty & The Best Magazine highlights this remarkable journey as an example of purpose, resilience, and leadership beyond borders. Parveen Rani and Tushar Kumar: An Inspiring UK Mayor Milestone The journey of Parveen Rani and Tushar Kumar is a meaningful example of how family values, public service, and community leadership can create a legacy across borders. In an extraordinary moment that reflects the evolving story of modern Britain, mother and son duo Parveen Rani and Tushar Kumar have created not one, but two historic milestones in the United Kingdom through their appointments as Mayors in neighbouring Hertfordshire councils. Parveen Rani was elected as the Mayor of Hertsmere Borough Council, while her son, Tushar Kumar, became the Mayor of Elstree & Borehamwood Town Council. Their appointments are believed to mark one of the first times in British history that a mother and son have simultaneously been appointed as Mayors of two different councils at the same time — a remarkable achievement that has attracted attention both nationally and internationally. At the same time, Tushar Kumar created a second piece of history by becoming the youngest ever Indian-origin Mayor in the history of the United Kingdom at just 23 years old, representing a new generation of leadership rooted in diversity, public service, and community engagement. Parveen Rani’s Journey of Service and Leadership Parveen Rani’s journey has been built on years of dedication to education, social work, cultural preservation, and community cohesion. Deeply respected within the local community, she became widely recognised for supporting families, empowering women, promoting cultural understanding, and encouraging young people to engage with civic life. As the founder of Hindi Shiksha Parishad UK, she worked tirelessly to help younger generations remain connected to their language, heritage, and cultural identity while growing up in Britain. Through free Hindi education, cultural programmes, and community initiatives, she created a platform that strengthened both identity and inclusion within the wider community. Her years of grassroots involvement naturally led her into public service and local government. She strongly believed that leadership should focus on unity, opportunity, and ensuring every resident feels heard and represented. Her election as Mayor of Hertsmere marked another significant milestone, making her one of the first Asian women to hold the prestigious role. Tushar Kumar and a New Generation of Indian-Origin Leadership Inspired by his mother’s commitment to service, Tushar Kumar began engaging in community initiatives and leadership activities from a young age. While studying Political Science at King’s College London, he became actively involved in volunteering, youth engagement, and public service. At the age of 20, he was elected as a councillor, representing a ward that had not been won by his party for decades. Despite his young age, Tushar quickly became recognised for his ability to connect with residents, champion youth voices, and bring communities together. His rise to becoming Mayor of Elstree & Borehamwood Town Council symbolised a changing landscape in British civic leadership — one where young people from diverse backgrounds are increasingly stepping forward to shape their communities. Together, Parveen Rani and Tushar Kumar represent more than political achievement. Their journey reflects perseverance, resilience, community service, and the importance of representation in public life. Their story has resonated strongly with communities across the UK and internationally, inspiring many young people to believe that age, background, or circumstance should never be barriers to leadership. A Proud Moment for the Indian Diaspora and UK Civic Leadership For the Indian diaspora in the United Kingdom, Parveen Rani and Tushar Kumar represent a proud story of representation, responsibility, and civic contribution. Their journey also reflects how Indian-origin leaders continue to contribute to public service, local communities, and modern civic leadership. Hertsmere Borough Council plays an important role in local civic leadership, public service, and community representation in the United Kingdom. Local councils in the UK are responsible for important community services and civic representation across different regions. Beauty & The Best Magazine continues to spotlight women achievers, leadership stories, and Indian diaspora success stories that inspire readers across borders. Speaking about the historic moment, Mayor Parveen Rani said: “This achievement is not just for our family. It belongs to every parent who sacrifices for their children, every family working hard to build a better future, and every young person who believes they can create positive change through service and determination.” Mayor Tushar Kumar added: “We hope our journey inspires more young people to step forward, engage with their communities, and believe in their ability to lead. Public service should always be about bringing people together, creating opportunities, and making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.” Their achievements have been widely celebrated across civic, cultural, and community circles, with many describing their story as a powerful example of modern Britain — diverse, inclusive, aspirational, and united. From years of grassroots community work to creating history together as Mayors, the journey of Parveen Rani and Tushar Kumar stands as a powerful reminder that dedication, resilience, and service to others can truly shape history. Conclusion: Parveen Rani and Tushar Kumar’s Inspiring Legacy The story of Parveen Rani and Tushar Kumar is not only about historic titles. It is about leadership, representation, family values, and the power of public service to inspire future generations.

Beyond Diamonds: Why Coloured Gemstones Are Redefining the Indian Wedding Story By Guruji Shrii Arnav

Revered Param Ajhan Guruji Shrii Arnav at the 73rd International Bangkok Gem and Jewellery Show. Guruji Shrii Arnav: The Mentor of Mentors In a world of fleeting trends and superficial metrics, Guruji Shrii Arnav stands as a singular force of clarity. Known globally as the “Mentor of Mentors,” he is a top 1% meta-cognitive reasoning expert and financial strategist who has spent decades bridging the gap between ancient Vedic wisdom and modern performance. As the founder of Gemstoneuniverse, he has pioneered the “Digital Legacy” project, transforming complex planetary energetics into actionable success for the world’s elite. To engage with his work is to step onto a 3,000-year trust route, where high-level strategy meets the spiritual precision of a contemporary Leonardo da Vinci. An Indian Wedding Is Not Just a Celebration—It Is a Sacred Contract In the Indian consciousness, a marriage is never merely a casual union or a social contract of convenience. It is the alignment of two families, two destinies, and two distinct karmic journeys. It is a “Sacred Contract” written in the language of the soul. When the vows are taken around the sacred fire (Agni), the couple invokes a divine witness to a transition that is as spiritual as it is legal. Sacred Beginnings — The Indian wedding fire (Agni) symbolizes divine witness and eternal vows. In this high-stakes environment, jewellery has never served a purely decorative purpose. In the Vedic tradition, what we wear on our skin is an extension of our energetic field. Jewellery has always been symbolic, energetic, and—above all—intentional. As we move into a new era of bridal aesthetics, we are seeing a return to this intentionality, moving away from the “one-size-fits-all” diamond narrative toward the profound language of coloured gemstones. Gold First, Always: The Foundation of Prosperity Historically, the anchor of the Indian wedding has been gold. Long before the marketing of precious stones took hold, gold represented the four pillars of a successful union: purity, stability, prosperity, and continuity. It was the “safe haven” for both emotion and wealth. Interestingly, diamonds were never central to this sacred exchange. While gold was the soul of the bridal trousseau, diamonds were often viewed as secondary or reserved for specific aesthetic embellishments rather than the core ritualistic value. The shift toward diamonds as a primary wedding stone is a relatively recent phenomenon in the context of India’s 3,000-year history of ornamentation. The South Indian Insight: More Than Just “Red” To understand why coloured gemstones are surging in popularity, we must look at the wisdom of South India. Here, the tradition of gifting organic red coral along with gold has remained unbroken for centuries. This isn’t merely a fashion choice. Red coral signifies Mangalya Balam—the strength of the marital bond and a heavenly union that is sacred. It is a gemstone of vitality, gifted to ensure fertility, protection, and the blessing of Sumangali—a woman who remains married to a virtuous husband throughout her life. Tradition & Power — Gold and red coral representing Mangalya Balam and Sumangali blessings. Today, many traditional Indian families consult an expert astrologer and Astro Gemmologists of Great Experience to select specific-coloured gemstones to be exchanged during the wedding vows, as these are considered highly auspicious, lucky, and essential for bringing long-term stability to the couple. India: The Birthplace of Legendary Diamonds It is a paradox that while diamonds were not central to wedding rituals, India was the original home of the world’s most magnificent diamonds. The legendary Golconda diamonds, including the world-famous Kohinoor, defined global standards for centuries. These stones were prized for their “pani”—an internal, watery brilliance that seemed to glow from within. Heritage & Legacy — The legendary Golconda diamonds that once adorned royalty. However, these were the stones of royalty and conquest, not the common marriage altar. They were symbols of power and sovereign status. The democratization of the diamond into the “wedding essential” we see today only began in earnest quite recently. The Turning Point: 1991 and the Rise of Scale The year 1991 marked a tectonic shift in the Indian economy. Economic liberalization opened the doors to global retail, aggressive advertising, and Western narratives. Love, commitment, and “forever” were suddenly packaged in the form of a diamond. The industry quickly built scale. Today, the round brilliant cut dominates over 90% of the market. This dominance isn’t necessarily about beauty; it’s about standardization and scalability. By making diamonds uniform, they became a commodity that could be traded and certified easily. Systems like the GIA brought much-needed trust to the market, but they also inadvertently shifted the buying process toward paperwork over experience. The modern bride often spends more time looking at a certificate than feeling the energy of the stone. Modern Diamond System — Certification, standardization, and the rise of the round brilliant cut. What the System Misses: The Experiential Impact In the rush to standardize, something vital was lost. Current scientific evaluations focus on inclusions and “flaws,” but they rarely discuss the experiential impact of a stone. Traditional Indian systems looked deeper. They understood that a gemstone is a living node of energy that must align with the wearer. In many Indian families, there was a tradition of testing diamonds. A stone would be kept under a pillow or tied to the arm for several days or weeks before it was accepted into the family. Jewellery was validated through lived experience, not just a laboratory report. If the period of testing brought peace and progress, the stone was a keeper. If it brought unrest, it was rejected, regardless of its “D-Flawless” status on paper. Diamonds and Shukra: The Energy of Venus From a Vedic perspective, diamonds are linked to Shukra (Venus). This planet governs beauty, luxury, and sensual pleasures. While these are desirable traits for a wedding, these energies require careful balance and are not universally suitable for every individual. For many, a diamond might be too “sharp” or “cold”. This realization is fuelling the current trend toward emeralds, sapphires, and mixed gemstone jewellery.

Rakhi Poddar-The Global Iconic Artist!

Rakhi Poddar, a 47-year-old artist and founder of Devtaru, is celebrated for her vibrant, emotion-driven paintings that capture the strength, equality and resilience of women. Poddar also works as a spokesperson and is noted for her, often, themes surrounding femininity and art.As she says,” My relationship with art began long before I understood what art truly was. It emerged quietly and instinctively in childhood, at a time when colours spoke to me more deeply than words ever could. Some of my earliest and most cherished memories are tied to festivals, especially Diwali, when the floors of our home became open canvases. I would spend hours creating rangolis with vibrant powders, completely absorbed in the rhythm of colours flowing through my hands. Each finished design brought joy, and every smile or word of appreciation planted a small seed of confidence, affirming that this language of colour belonged to me.” From a very young age, Rakhi was constantly drawn to blank spaces white paper, empty corners, any surface that invited expression. ” I was particularly fascinated by women’s faces and their emotions. The strength hidden within softness, the stories reflected in eyes, and the quiet power of expressions pulled me towards portraiture.” Alongside this, she developed a deep love for black and white. Charcoal, with its rawness and depth, fascinated her. She still remembers her first charcoal pencil, gifted by her mama from America. With it, she began sketching women’s faces strong yet gentle, expressive yet silent.” As she remembers, ” To my surprise, these works were appreciated by everyone around me, and my skills gradually began to evolve.” Experimentation became an essential part of her journey. She loved exploring new materials, understanding textures, and mastering light, shade, contrast, and tonal depth through sketching. As she grew older, her commitment to art deepened. She actively participated in school competitions, learning discipline, patience, and observation. As she quips,” My mother played a significant role in shaping my artistic outlook. Though out a science student, her precise diagrams taught me that creativity and structure can beautifully coexist. Driven by passion, I pursued formal art training in Delhi—a transformative phase that refined my technique and broadened my vision. Art became not just something I practiced, but something I lived. Life later brought a pause through marriage and responsibilities, yet art never left me. When I finally picked up the brush again, it felt like a rebirth. By then, my practice of Nichiren Daishonin Buddhism had infused my work with deeper intention, positivity, and purpose.” AWARDS & ACCOLADES Over time, her journey was recognised through meaningful milestones, including the Savvy Excellence Award (2017), Kala Gaurav Award (2018), participation as a spokesperson at the Women’s Summit (2019), and the Society Achiever Award in 2025. “Today, I work primarily with acrylics, creating vibrant, meditative, and nature-inspired paintings that bring calm, balance, and positivity into living spaces. My journey continues not only as an artist, but as a guide for aspiring creatives believing that art, like life, is not about perfection, but about sincerity.” (For more details  follow Rakhi Poddar at Instagram :devtarubyrakhi)

Her products, enriched with herbs, flowers, precious minerals, and oils, have redefined luxury for countless customers across the world. Yet, Shahnaz Husain’s story isn’t just about business success; it’s about conviction and courage. Unlike most brands that thrive on glossy ad campaigns, she chose a path rarely taken. Relying on word-of-mouth, genuine results, and her own charisma, she built an international brand without commercial advertising — a feat so remarkable that it became a Harvard Business School case study. Today, management students at Harvard study her journey as part of their “Emerging Markets” curriculum, while she has also shared her story at places like the University of Oxford, London School of Economics, MIT, and even in the historic halls of the British Parliament.   From treating common skin and hair concerns to developing the Chemoline range — products designed to soothe and heal the effects of chemotherapy, which she donates to cancer patients free of cost — Shahnaz’s work is as compassionate as it is innovative. When Shahnaz first stepped into the international market during the Festival of India in London, her products sold out so quickly that the team had to send an urgent shipment from India to refill empty shelves. At Galeries Lafayette in Paris, faced with a sales target to secure a permanent counter, she flew in Kashmiri carpets from Delhi, offering them as gifts to customers who purchased a certain amount. The result? A buying frenzy and a permanent spot in the iconic store. These stories aren’t just anecdotes; they capture the fearless creativity that has defined her journey. Beyond her products, Shahnaz has always believed in empowering others. Decades ago, she pioneered vocational beauty training in India, making professional education accessible to thousands of women long before formal beauty schools existed. She encouraged housewives to open salons from their homes, giving them a chance at financial independence. Through her free training courses, she’s helped the visually and hearing impaired, acid attack survivors, and countless underprivileged women transform their lives. Her book on beauty has even been published in Braille.   Her dedication has earned her countless accolades: from the Padma Shri, awarded by the Government of India, to being named the “World’s Greatest Woman Entrepreneur” by Success, a U.S. business magazine — the first woman in 104 years to receive the Honor. She has also received the Kotler Award from the World Marketing Summit, the IWEC Award for Global Woman Entrepreneur, and multiple Honors in the British Parliament, to name just a few. Today, Shahnaz Husain’s products sit proudly on the shelves of luxury stores like Harrods and Selfridges in London, Galeries Lafayette in Paris, Bloomingdale’s in New York, and the Seibu chain in Japan. But what truly makes her brand special is not just where it is sold, but what it stands for: a belief in nature, heritage, and the power of staying true to your roots.   After more than five decades, the name Shahnaz Husain remains more than just a brand — it’s a testament to vision, resilience, and the idea that one person’s faith in their culture can make the world listen.
